Stanley is sent to Camp Green Lake, which is no
summer camp and there is no lake, for a crime he
didn't commit. He must dig holes all summer to pay
his debt to society, yet something fishy in the air.
Stanley doesn't believe the warden's explanation
that hard physical labor is the remedy to juvenile
delinquency. Something else is going on at Camp
Green Lake!

Chapters 1-5 Think Question
The camp is located in a barren region of Texas, one hundred miles from the nearest water source. Water is brought in by truck. Explain why the camp has no fences or guards. Is there a way the boys might escape?
The guard said if you run I will not run after you. If the boys run they will get lost. They will get hungry and they will get thristhy because there is no water for them out there.
I think that if the kids run away they will die. They would die because the area is like a desert. If the try to run there is no water and the kids can die.
Guys, I agree with most of you. I think it would be rather difficult for them to escape from Camp Green Lake. I think it would be difficult because the camp is the only place in that area where the boys could find water. I also think they may get lost in such a big place. That wold be scary!
the prisoners can not escape because is no where to go.there will be no water or no food.
